ESPN was founded in 1979 by sports fans and has been covering the world of sports ever since. We call Bristol, Connecticut our home, but our real offices are the stadiums, fields, arenas and parks where sports events are held. ESPN is a U.S.-based global cable and satellite sports television channel owned by ESPN Inc. a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company (which operates the network) and Hearst Corporation. ESPN broadcasts primarily from a studio located in Bristol, Connecticut. The network also has offices in Miami, New York, Seattle, Charlotte and Los Angeles. John Skipper is currently president of ESPN, a position he has held since January 1, 2012. Although ESPN is one of the most successful sports networks, there has been much criticism of ESPN, which includes accusations of biased coverage, conflicts of interest and disagreements with individual broadcasters and analysts.
