Dvojka (RTVS) is a Slovak television channel, which was established in 1993 by transforming the second programme of the Czech-Slovak Television. This channel started broadcasting in 1970 on an experimental basis and since 1973 regularly. Unlike the federal first programme, Dvojka was conceived as a national, i.e. Slovak, channel. Currently, Dvojka is part of the public multiplex.
Dvojka (RTVS) has a rich history, which began in the Czechoslovak period. In 1970, experimental broadcasts of the second programme of Czecho-Slovak Television began. These experimental broadcasts met with great success, and in 1973 the second programme began to be broadcast regularly. In contrast to the federal first programme, the second programme was conceived as a national channel, which was primarily dedicated to the Slovak audience.
