LexTV began broadcasting on cable channel 3 in Lexington in 1980 with council meetings and a changing message board. Today, LexTV is a public access television station serving metropolitan Lexington and Fayette County in central Kentucky. In the Lexington metro area, it can be seen on the Time Warner 3 cable channel. LexTV is currently one of two local cable channels in the Lexington area; the other is UKTV, the University of Kentucky education channel.
